HOW DID YOUR NAME ORIGINATE?
We very much liked the place name of Fargo not for much more reason than that, it sounds good. While we had seen the Coen brothers movie that wasn’t really the driver, hell all I can think about is the guy in the wood chipper when I think about that film! As for the Railroad Company it made sense. Trains and rails are synonymous with Americana and I have folks that worked in the engine sheds a time ago. I think there’s an allure to a train, everybody wants to get away sometimes.

WHERE WAS YOUR FIRST GIG AND HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE THERE?
We played a bar in Sheffield called the DaDa Bar, it’s now a wine bar… tragic! Must have been 10 people there. Hell we were nervous!

WHEN WAS YOUR LAST DAY OFF AND WHAT DID YOU DO WITH IT?
We don’t get many days off together. If we’re together we’re up to no good. Last proper day off together we met our good friend and booking agent Bob Patterson for beer and curry and more beer… Not sure how that ended actually!

Imperial mints, we’d be nowhere without them.

WHICH SONG BY ANOTHER ARTIST DO YOU WISH YOU HAD WRITTEN?
That’s too difficult. The more I think about it the more impossible it becomes. I was listening to Spanish Pipedream by John Prine earlier I’ll say that. Hell that’s a great song, Prine just writes with such texture and humour… Yeh that’s not such a bad choice…

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST SURREAL FAN MOMENT?
Hmmm… there’s the girl that wanted to abduct our drummer, the girl that said she had a stalker problem! The guy who told us his dog used to be a Viking and was constantly throwing axes around the kitchen. As for the most surreal for me it was when Jim Lauderdale watched us play our set at Summertyne and then came back and said hello, far out!
