Fresh of the back of his sold out Hoxton Bar & Kitchen headline show and performance at The Great Escape Festival, Australian based collective Winston Surfshirt roar into the Summer with new release ‘Make A Move’. The single arrives at the halfway point in their Australian ‘Baked Goods’ tour where the hip-hop, funk and pop inspired band fronted by London born Winston, have been showcasing their memorable live show. ‘Make A Move’ presents a new, upbeat chapter in Winston’s impressive catalogue.
Adopting their signature hip-hop style armed with soulful horns and Winston’s trademark slick vocal, ‘Make A Move’s vibrant tempo nods to old-school funk and R&B and has already seen approval from thousands of fans across the first leg of their tour. Speaking on ‘Make A Move’ Winston said: “It's a fun disco-hop song to get you dancing. Premiered at a London show last month and was one of the funnest songs get down to live. Just an insight of what's to come” Further showcasing their unique blend of musicality, Winston Surfshirt’s most recent single ‘For The Record’ marked their first new music since a highly applauded 16-track debut record, ‘Sponge Cake’.
The 2017 LP featured their debut Gold-certified single ‘Be About You’ and received nods from international tastemakers Beats 1 'Zane Lowe and Sir Elton John, Jason Bentley (KCRW), Huw Stephens & Phil Taggart (BBC Radio 1) and Lauren Laverne (BBC Radio 6), alongside earning triple j feature album. They went on to sell out all 10 shows on their Australian ‘Sponge Cake’ tour, followed by festival billings at Splendour In The Grass, Spilt Milk, Falls Festival, Field Day & This That, before selling out shows across Europe.
