False Hearts - Ask 6

HOW DID YOUR NAME ORIGINATE?

Finding names for the band was really difficult as everything we came up with was super cheesy or cliche. I went to the library (there’s a first time for everything) and came across a book called ‘False Hearts’ and we all liked it!

WHERE WAS YOUR FIRST GIG AND HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE THERE?

Emma: Our first gig was 3 weeks after we actually got a full line up together! It was at a small village festival called Ledgefest in 2016, we filled the slot that was reserved for Emma and Adi’s old band which split so we had a mass panic of songwriting and rehearsals before we played - I think it went well!

-

WHEN WAS YOUR LAST DAY OFF AND WHAT DID YOU DO WITH IT?

Ali: My last day off I went to the dentist and hospital, not really what you want to do in your time off!

Emma: Last weekend, generally head to Nandos or catch a gig!

Phil: My last day off was Saturday, which was technically not really a day off as i'm not sure what that is. But I carried out a water rescue, had a hair cut, spent time with family then spent the evening called out to a pub fire.

Adi: Last weekend, on Saturday I went to drive supercars round a track (a leaving present from my previous job) and then spent Sunday relaxing with my partner.

-

WHAT IS SOMETHING - APART FROM YOUR PHONE OR WALLET - THAT HAS TO BE IN YOUR VICINITY AT ALL TIMES?

Ali: Definitely a cup of tea, can’t go too long without one!

Emma: Pen and paper for me so I can write down lyrics and song ideas all the time!

Phil: My alerter as im on call with the fire service most hours of the week.

Adi: Car keys. I’m more than happy to be designated driver.

-

WHICH SONG BY ANOTHER ARTIST DO YOU WISH YOU'D WRITTEN?

Ali: ‘Stitches’ by Young Guns, it really speaks to me this song, please play it at my funeral…

Emma: Cut The Cord - Shinedown

Phil: Revelations - Audioslave.

Adi: Butterflies and Hurricanes - Muse

-

WHAT'S BEEN THE MOST SURREAL FAN MOMENT?

Emma: Every time someone asked for a signature or a photo feels surreal still for me!

Phil: Playing at the Apex In Bury St Edmunds and seeing people sing our lyrics back.

Adi: I agree with Phil, while on stage...looking out into the crowd and seeing people singing our songs back to us.
